"Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairy-tale love, but also shoes" says Louboutin
Footwear designer Christian Louboutin has honored Walt Disney with his take on a modern-day fairy tale slipper, to mark the release the 'Cinderella' Diamond Edition on Blu-ray later this year.
Instead of glass, as worn by Cinderella in the original 1950's animated fairytale, Louboutin designed his shoe using white lace and sparkling crystals, with red-soled 120-mm platform heels adorned with Swarovski Elements.
"Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairy-tale love, but also shoes," Christian told WWD. "Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale," he added.
The fairy-tale-inspired shoe went on public display for the first time on July 4 in Paris along-side stills and sketches from the making of the 1950 classic film.
Also showing as part of the exhibition is a six minute film with Louboutin playing a cobbler, struggling against the clock to finish Cinderella's iconic shoe.
