We are so proud to be English and we are very excited about the Olympics says Victoria
The Spice Girls will reunite for one performance at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
The Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games on the 12th August 2012 uwill be titled 'A Symphony of British Music', to celebrate the fact that music has been one of Britain's strongest cultural exports over the last 50 years.
The group Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), will join George Michael, The Who, Take That and Jessie J to help close the games on August 12.
Despite reported tension in the band – the MailOnline reports Geri told friends that Victoria "has lost the spirit of the band".
Last week Victoria said during an interview on RTE radio "I'm so respectful of my past and I love the other girls. We have some fantastic fans. Who knows, maybe some day we'll do something else with the Spice Girls. I would love nothing more.
"I don't know about a comeback tour but I loved being back with the girls. There was a lot of fun, we did so much together and we'll see. If they're up for something then I certainly am."
"We are so proud to be English and we are very excited about the Olympics" she added.
No set list is confirmed yet but it is thought the girls will perform two of their biggest hits at the ceremony – Wannabe and Spice up Your Life.
Organisers have told performers that they will have the choice to mime at the closing ceremony. The Sun reports "Games chiefs don't want to leave anything to chance.
"They've given all acts at the Closing Ceremony the option of miming to their songs. They want the tunes pre-recorded before the event so there's no problems with the sound", the report continued.
